On Dec 21st, I installed Panda Global 2009 on 4 machines : 2 XP home, 1 XP Pro, 1 Vista. Afterwards I installed a piece of garbage called
Iolo System Mechanic which came with Network Magic Pro. Somehow it affected the ability of the Panda Firewall/AV to do it's job and I ended up with some kind of virus that disabled Panda's ability to scan any hard drive by inserting said hard drives in the exclusions list. All attempts to remove exclusions were thwarted. Scanning from the CD upon reboot produced nothing of value and actually hung several times on the one machine in a DUMP file. All atempts to discover the nature of the infection with Panda were fruitless. Uninstalled and reinstalled met no success. Uninstall does not remove everything ala Norton. Installed and ran AVG and again, no real help. And, might I say their Firewall setup is AWFUL !
Tried using another hard drive ( backup on the shelf ) in the one machine but it was immediately infected over the network from the other XP Home machine. Am now running Rising AV which found a trojan in the System32 folder. I have lost absolutely all confidence in Panda. I have used Panda products for 2 years and was well pleased. I switched the one XP Home machine to Panda from Kazpersky because of Kaz's prediliction to hog all system resources. BIG mistake !!!

I sent an email to Tech Support and was told I'd have to call them to resolve the issue. I have spent 3 days trying to correct this issue. I bought 2- 3 License copies of Global 2009 and am thoroughly disgusted and dissatisfied.

IT is really straight-forward to uninstall. Simply go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, choose Panda and click uninstall. Remember to reboot after uninstall and you should be done.

I tried a trial version of IS 08,and when I tried to uninstall it my computer crashed. It had to go back to HP and they replaced the hard drive. I liked the anti virus and firewall and would love to try IS 09 but I am really nervous to do so. I would like to compare it to other products. How simple is to completely uninstall 09?

Daphne, first try to uninstall all Panda versions from the Control Panel (Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, select each Panda item and click uninstall). After you have done this, reboot, download the above Generic_Uninstaller.exe and run it. Afterwards it should allow you to install IS2009 perfectly.

On my mother's computer, running XP and trying to install IS2009, neither of the above generic installers worked on the "traces of..." problem. It still comes up with the "failed installation" message and tries to install the software each time the computer is booted up.

Is it possible there are other software conflicts preventing this from working? Can anyone give me a clue?
