Compatibility with Windows 7

February 26th, 2009 Pedro Bustamante

As some of you may know Microsoft is currently working on its next Operating System called Windows 7. It introduces quite some improvements in usability, efficiency and information management. It's definately worth a try.

To help you evaluate Windows 7 we've just released a beta of Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 for Windows 7. It includes the latest Panda anti-malware engine, heuristics and Collective Intelligence scanning-from-the-cloud.

You can download the beta of Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 for Windows 7 directly from here.

More information about Panda for Windows 7 at http://www.pandasecurity.com/windows7.

    Hello,

Just started using Windows 7 and installed Panda Antivirus PRO 2009, it works great!

I've read about other AV's being compatible in the specs for Windows 7 but actually made a real mess after installation(boot problems etc).

Im glad we can trust you guys. Keep up the good work!

    -Marcus, Sweden

    P.S.

I would love to see Managed Office Protection compatible soon!

Thanks for the link, the only sad thing is that I’ve asked Panda three times for an update, without getting response.

@Jeroen, what type of update do you need? The product for Windows7 will update signature files by itself automatically.

I was using Panda for Vista/XP, and installed as a beta tester Windows 7 after their beta release. I’ve asked the supportguys from Panda several times for an update of panda to make it compatible with Seven. I never got an answer, but found the link this week by myself.

    It’s working OK

    Hi,

I'm having a problem activating the Beta on Windows 7.

I've tried both at work and home (with and without a proxy) and get the same results.

    Error code: 0002:0001

Generic Error: An error occurred during product activation.

Panda can reach the internet it updates perfectly fine just can't get it to activate which is annoying because the activation badge keeps popping up during the day. Any suggestions?

    I have installed Windows 7 32bit.
Installed Panda. I like the look and its a very simple tool to use. Thanks.

    1 bug:
    I receive a windows notification:
The “Solve PC issues:” message in the tray.

    Reads as follows:
“Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported. Use the prgram’s automatic updating feature, or contact the program manufacturer for an updated version.”

I have done the auto update and rebooted tried update again, and rebooted. But it still reports the same.

Installing the windows updates now. Will post update once these have completed.

i have the same message Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported. Use the prgram’s automatic updating feature, or contact the program manufacturer for an updated version. any solutions.

Same issue as T. Ruiz and Sam — “Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported.” Not an earth shaking issue but one that should be fixed.

    June 19th, 2009 at 14:55 | #18

I’m also getting the Error code: 0002:0001 when I try to register. I’ve searched and found nothing I can do to get rid of it. I think the Panda beta is coming off of my machine pretty quick. There’s plenty of other options for Windows 7 that won’t be popping up all over the place.

    June 20th, 2009 at 23:34 | #19

I also receive the windows notification:

The “Solve PC issues:” message in the tray.

    Reads as follows:

“Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 is on but is reporting its status to Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported. Use the prgram’s automatic updating feature, or contact the program manufacturer for an updated version.”

I reported this issue right after installing RC7100 of Windows 7 and got no response. Also the confirmation email I receive does not display text in my email so I am using this method again.

I have downloaded again today, uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, and run updates. No improvement.

    I give up.

Panda 2009 for Win 7 installed great, updates great but will not activate! No matter where you go, home work, wi-fi, it just will not activate. It immediately tells you it cannot connect to the server to activate…I mean it does this so fast it couldn’t even be trying to connect! Any ideas?

    June 29th, 2009 at 19:00 | #23

I’m also hitting the “Error 0002:0001″ thing where I can’t connect to the Panda Service for activation…

Anyone from Panda listening to all of us with the issue?

Just had my first issue with Panda and Windowa 7, and have been running the two for about 10 weeks now. The problem reads: Panda Security Software has been blocked from running because it might prevent your computer from starting correctly in the future.
I am looking to see if there is an update or anything. Am also reinstalling to make sure my version has not become corrupted for some reason.

Having not long purchased Panda Internet Security 2009 and subscribed until May 2010, I suddenly find myself with a dilemma, as from October I will be running Windows 7 and I suddenly find that I cannot run Panda I.S on it? I have seen a few vague postings about an “upgrade patch” to Panda I.S but could someone confirm that Pandas I.S 2009 WILL be made compatible with Windows 7?? Thanks!

  33. Pedro Bustamante
    July 27th, 2009 at 08:00 | #33

@UKS2000, yes I confirm that PandaIS (and the rest of Panda products for consumers and companies) will be made compatible with Windows 7 at the same time as Microsoft officially releases Windows 7 (October 22nd is the date if I’m correct).

    July 29th, 2009 at 19:45 | #34

It’s great to hear that panda will be made compatible for the full release…but what do for anti-virus till then…we’ve paid our subscriptions to use these programs, and now lose a couple of months worth of this, waiting for them to release a patch, and it is great that they have made Panda AntiVirus Beta compatible, but on a trial which you then have to buy on top of the subscription you already have…why not give us a client only extended trial till the compatible release is made, or even until our subscriptions are due for renewal??

    July 29th, 2009 at 21:32 | #35

@David, you can either install the beta for Windows 7 (link above) or write me a message with your customerID and we’ll look at the time left and add some months if necessary.

    Pedro,
I too have been a customer from the beginning, I get the activation error as well,,the only way I can update the signatures etc. is to uninstall and reinstall every week!! I would think this would not be a hard fix for you guys, a simple patch would suffice, but to ignore the paying customers and wait until Windows 7 is fully released well, thats disturbing! I update my 3 year subscription every year, now I am rethinking..

Could you tell us when the Panda For Desktops is going to be Windows 7 compatible ? We have many business customers on Software Assurance licences that have had access to Windows 7 since August 7th.

    many thanks

  47. Pedro Bustamante
    August 24th, 2009 at 11:31 | #47

@Phil, I don’t have the exact date but it’ll be around mid-October, with probably a beta version available in September.

  48. http://
    August 25th, 2009 at 20:19 | #48

i was able to successfully install IS2010, but warning to those trying, or peeps reading this, it will cause explorer to just keep crashing after restart…

anyone who has installed it and is having this issue, needs to restart in safe mode, delete the folder (8 files can’t be deleted), then download the uninstaller for IS2009, run that, and it fully removes the remnants.

it’ll be nice once it’s working “officially” on win7
