Panda 2010 Beta Now Open

May 18th, 2009 Pedro Bustamante

Today we've officially launched the beta program for our Panda 2010 products.

As functionality-wise Panda Global Protection 2010 is the most complete product of the bunch we're releasing it as the main beta product. It includes a complete Anti-Malware Engine, Identity Theft Protection, Safe Internet Browsing filters and PC Backup & Optimization tools. More information can be found in the full functionality list.

One of the most interesting improvements this year is a 40% improvement in memory consumption, which results in a lower performance impact and better overall user experience.

You can find all the details, download link, installation details, list of known bugs and a list of recommended test at http://www.pandasecurity.com/beta

Before you ask, Windows 7 support is not yet included in this 2010 beta. It'll be announced later on. In the meantime you can check the Panda Antivirus Pro Beta for Windows 7.

1 question, does pgp 2010 queries to CI for maleware in realtime like cloudav or we still have to do ondemand scan to check file on CI

@Kev, this 2010 edition is much improved. Memory consumption is approx 20MB sitting idle, versions over 130MB for previous versions. Also performance impact has been reduced, specially for Internet brwosing and downloads.

@buddee, yes continues detecting unknown trojans using TruPrevent. Regarding checking against CI, it does so but not in real-time. It checks every so often what is loaded in memory against CI. Also of course using an on-demand scan as always.

    May 26th, 2009 at 13:05 | #7

So its mean when a file is loaded into memory it will be checked against CI,

no doubt 2010 is very much improved in detection and in memory consumption, i have downloaded and happy with, but

i like to have PIS 2010 becuase of its color scheme :D ,

Also when you’re downloading a file from the Internet or receiving it via other means (email, IM, …) it is also chequed in real-time.

In addition to improved detection & memory, also big improvements in HTTP browsing and file download transfer times.

@Jonas: I have the same problem.
You must deactivate TruPrevent, then it works ok.

I hope with beta2 this problem is solved.

i think its a bug, scanning a file with cloud av and pis 2009 detects the file as maleware, but scanning the same file with 2010 didn’t detect as maleware.

2nd running a hidden file (not hidden process) from system32 and doint the memory scan manually, PIS 2009 detects the file suspicious, but 2010 didn’t detected the same file suspicious.

@Buddee, can you send me details of the file (md5 or send me the file in a zip with passwd)?

  14. http://
    May 29th, 2009 at 02:33 | #14

link 2 the file with password     panda

    http://rapidshare.com/files/xxxxx/load.zip

that was not detected by pgp2010 but was detected by cloud av and pis 2009 by on demand scan, few days ago that file was detected suspicious by CI and then trj.cli.a using pis2009 and cloud av

is beta2 is available at http://www.pandasecurity.com/beta to download ?

    May 31st, 2009 at 13:34 | #17

not this file there are many other files, which are not detected by pgp 2010 by on demand scan or running them , where as pis2009/cloud av detected them by on demand/on execution.

if internet connection is disabled it still says connecting, website found waiting for reply and start the scans,

I have same problems with this beta2.
After install, first reboot is ok. Than when i start my computer, after logon sometimes i have a black screen, sometimes i see my desktop but can nothing do. (explorer.exe hangs)
In safe-mode i must deactivate “protection against unknown threads” than my system works normal.

After install beta2, TruPrevent find a suspicious file C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\LOGISHRD\LVMVFM\LVPRCSRV.EXE, but i think this is a normal file from Logitech.
I send this file to Panda but i got no answer.

@buddee, masked your URL, we’ll take a look at it. Beta2 is published already. Please re-test as we found some crashes with certain scan types/files.

@Kev & @Ben, please get in touch with beta@pandasecurity.com to fix these issues.

@buddee, @kev, @maxy and others. Yes you are right. We found a problem in the way the files from quarantine were being processed. You should see this improved a lot by now. Please confirm.

    @Pedro
Thanks for the new Beta. But i have the same problems like the first two betas.

After install, first reboot is ok. Than when i start my computer, after logon sometimes i have a black screen, sometimes i see my desktop but can nothing do. (explorer.exe hangs)
    same problems i have with PGP2009 and with PGP2010 beta1 and beta2.
In safe-mode i must deactivate “protection against unknown threads” than my system works ok.
After install this new version, TruPrevent find a suspicious file C:\ProgramFiles\Common Files\LOGISHRD\LVMVFM\LVPRCSRV.EXE, but i think this is a normal file from Logitech.
I send this file to Panda.

    Can you help me?
    I work with Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2.

    Best,
    kev

@pedro, i have checked, response time is improved very much, from ages its comes down to 12-24 hours to classify maleware.

But as by Panda word “it takes only 6 minutes to classify maleware” has not been reached yet, by info on internet Panda has 150 servers in cloud which classify files as maleware and goodware, with this scenario it should not take more than 1 hour to classify files, 12 – 24 time is good for a lab engineer to mark the file goodware or badware.

and 1 question when PIS 2010 beta will be launched. >

I have the PGO2010 and when I open my PC I’m getting a Visuall C++ runtime error and a TPSrv.exe error message and a turn off of the antivirus, anti-spam and identity protection. What you can do to resolve my problem. You have a hotfix for that or you have another solution.

Re: Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 Runtime error

Hi, just so you know – this error is coming back, a lot. After I delete the files in safe mode, my computer is fine for a few days, then the error comes back again. If I repeat the steps, everything is fine for a couple days…It keeps coming back.
